Pros

Initial pay is good (when you join). Your salary is greater than 50% of fellow Amazonians in the same role.

Brand value on your resume.

International options, if applicable to your role, are good.

Cons

The pay never increases (one-digit increment every year).

Promotion to the next role only gets you the minimum of the next role.

Any chances of increment are only via stocks.

Toxic culture. The overall environment is to gather data points, where in the end, skills growth, etc., do not matter if you somehow gather the metric.

Legacy code, operationally heavy, sacrifice any long-term improvement for the sake of short-term business goals. Poor long-term vision.

No role boundaries. More often than not, even if the role is software developer, you are a tester, product manager, TPM, and at times, you have to do the stuff that managers should be doing. This leaves you with no work-life balance in the end.

Do not stay for more than 2 years.
