Pros

Nice salary A lot of talented people around Internal tools, systems, and processes are well-defined. Everything is documented so you can kick-start independently. It's quite easy to change teams, locations, and countries. So if you are stuck in a bad team or with a bad manager, you can easily change teams if you have an above-average performance rating.

Cons

Poor benefits.

Culture is deteriorating after Jassy became CEO. Bureaucracy is plaguing the system. You will spend more time unblocking work than actually doing work.

Promotions from SDE 2 to SDE 3 have become too tough, and PEs just try to find ways to block the promotions. Never join as SDE 2 if you have more than 8 years of experience.

Most senior SDEs, and especially PEs, are highly incompetent, as mostly people good at showing off are getting promoted.

No more flexible timing.

PIP is a reality, and I have seen many people going through it. I myself dodged PIP in my first year by switching teams at the correct time.

Advice to Management

Please refine the promotion process with clearly defined steps or sub-levels so employees can track their progress, and their progress is not lost when a manager resigns or there is a re-org.
