Pros
  • Good training system. They have very good websites and resources for introducing good practices used in software development, internal tools, company cultures, etc. I find the training system very helpful for quickly gaining knowledge for my role.

  • Fast career growth. Working at Amazon is quite busy, but the gain is I find myself growing at a fast speed, in terms of both hard (technical) and soft (communication, documentation) skills, etc.

Cons

Work-life balance is not as good as other companies. It may sound crazy that interns have to over-work themselves in order to finish their projects, but this is what happened to me and many of my intern friends.

Benefits are relatively less attractive. While Microsoft interns may have monthly rental at an extremely low rate and Google interns may have corporate housing, Amazon only provides a transportation card (only in the Seattle area) and a $100 discount for shopping at Amazon.com.
