There is no job security if you aren’t in a revenue-earning organization. Senior management doesn’t have much say in the decisions taken by their managers.
Leadership/upper management should inform employees if they have a business need before pushing them to work hard on a project.
Many a time, a project/initiative gets dropped abruptly after it was started.
