First, the work in Amazon Web Services is quite cutting-edge, as business needs evolve every day in the cloud space. I get to touch on many kinds of services, and also there is still much room to grow for those services.
Where I work is a very fast-paced environment, so learning is fast. I also think that coworkers are nice and helpful for my growth and learning.
Generally, there is a pretty high operational load (technical debt) due to a lack of quality in some code as we ship code pretty fast. Leadership continues to focus on features instead of being serious about technical debt, which leads to some terrible on-call nights. Additionally, big companies in general are lacking missions, and I can’t help but feel tiny and not impactful to the company.
Focus more on a better reviewing process to reduce operational pain.
Improve planning, as we always miss impossible deadlines.
Be more focused on the quality of employees' lives instead of features and revenues.
