Pros
  1. Culture is better than I expected. Teams' cultures are highly variant. After the New York Times expose, I had my share of apprehension about even considering Amazon. But after actually meeting the team, people seemed happier than I expected. My team is certainly a much more supportive environment to work in than I expected from reading that article.

  2. Massive and impactful. Although my part is only a very small slice of Amazon, it can still make a huge impact because it affects many people.

  3. General company direction is growing and positive.

Cons
  1. Very big. They are massive enough to have their own internal ecosystem. It takes time to on-board and understand what is happening, and it's highly team-dependent.

  2. Somewhat too frugal. There are many fun and nice perks, of course. But sometimes, when I hear about my friends' working environment/office perks, it makes me wonder how green the other side of the fence might be.

Advice to Management

The office feels crowded. Not enough common areas, meeting rooms, or lunch spaces.
