Pros
  1. Got a chance to work on a lot of things, where we come up with proposals for problems, explore different approaches to solve them, make LLD documents, write code, and perform various types of testing before deployment.
  2. Got exposure to many things and learned a lot throughout.
  3. You'll learn to handle pressure, stress, and anxiety.
  4. Pay is good.
Cons

These can vary from team to team, but in most teams, including mine:

  • Work-life balance is so bad. Tasks given to you will be so much that you need to work for 10-12 hours at least, and on weekends too.
  • You can face corporate politics, which is so bad.
  • Your work will not get appreciation.
  • No one will look at the efforts you put in; all that matters is the result.
  • I faced a senior shouting at me.
  • You are expected to perform 100% in terms of deliverables, or else you will be directly or indirectly fired from the company. I've seen this case in front of me.
  • Lots of pressure and stress.
  • The worst part is, very politely and humbly, your life will be ruined, and you will also be responsible for that because the salary they provide (i.e., drugs, I call them) is why you will work so, so hard.
  • You can feel excluded, though intentionally by your team or fellow interns, so that they get most of the attention.
Advice to Management

No suggestions to them, as whatever we say, it doesn't matter to them. I never see Amazon working for their employees in terms of giving them a better work-life balance. They are just blind in front of their one and most important leadership principle, "Customer Obsession." So I don't think that they are looking forward to improving their work-life balance, so it's useless to give them any advice.
