Pros

99% of the people are super nice and willing to lend you a hand. It challenges you to become a better version of yourself. I had a great manager that led me through a successful internship. People truly live by the Leadership Principles; they are not just a poster. Work-life balance is pretty good (this really depends on the team, though at most of them, as an intern, you are not expected to stay after 6pm).

  • Gaining experience with AWS, which is ubiquitous in software development.
  • The office I worked on is a few steps away from restaurants and bars, which comes in handy at lunch and after-work.
  • I got to visit delivery stations and actually deliver packages alongside associates as part of the onboarding, which was cool by itself, but also useful for the work I did.
  • You have access to a huge set of learning material online.
  • Luxembourg is a nice city, certainly not the most vibrant, but its international vibe is very nice, most of all in companies like Amazon where English is the lingua franca.
  • Foosball games after lunch are a huge plus.

All in all, it's very rewarding to work at "Earth's most customer-facing company."

Cons
  • It would be nice if they served catered lunch. I'm not sure if they do so in other locations (probably not, because frugality), though I know it's logistically very hard due to reduced kitchen spaces in Lux. I would give up lunch vouchers for catered lunch anytime, though I know it doesn't really work that way.

  • It seems a bit unfair that interns in the US earn around 3x, given that Luxembourg is one of the most expensive countries in Europe. I never really had any trouble budgeting for a month, and I know it's not exclusive to Amazon; internships in Europe usually pay way less than in the US.

  • Finding accommodation in Luxembourg is very hard. It would be nice to have some help in this regard.

Advice to Management

I don't really have anything to say. I had a great manager who truly understood how to lead a software development team successfully.
