As a Software Development Manager at Amazon, I enjoy coming to work every day, knowing that my team's efforts are having a significant impact on the world's largest e-commerce site. I am talking in the xxx million dollar per year range.
There is a lot of latitude in choosing how to work and the direction of your product. Every person I have met so far is quite bright and enjoyable to work with. Compensation is great, especially compared to the broader, more legacy IT companies.
Rapid/frequent organization change. Some engineers are promotion driven instead of customer obsessed.
