Pros

Good pay.

Most engineers are skilled.

Cons

If you had 1000 achievements and 1 slight mistake, you will be forever known by your mistake.

Managers intentionally force you to work on what you are least skilled "so you learn".

Very long hours.

Internal tools are pathetic and unproductive, leading to very long hours.

As a manager, you must sacrifice people because the curve is the law. No matter what, 10% of your people must be labeled as Least Effective (LE), even if your team is composed of rock stars.

Advice to Management

Get rid of the curve.

Use tools that are available in the market. SIM is a piece of junk; use JIRA. Chime, Kingpin, and Amazon Docs would never be used by other companies.
