Pros
  • Good pay compared to other companies in China.
  • Good benefits like PTO and sick leave.
  • Good learning opportunities.
Cons
  • Management is extremely toxic in the AWS CN org, especially for tech teams. A lot of PUA (mind control) is causing mental issues for engineers.
  • Many PIPs.
  • Huge information asymmetry between management and engineers.
  • Bureaucracy, and only promoting inner circle bootlickers, even if they are really bad ones. Someone who is working very hard gets low performance ratings, and bootlickers get TT easily, even if they are really bad and below engineering bars.
  • Good or new projects are only assigned to new hires and loyal faction members.
  • Long working hours.
