Pros
  • Good learning.
  • Projects are at scale.
  • Lot more freedom/control as a developer.
  • FAANG tag.
Cons
  • Bad work-life balance.
  • Away-team work where you have to work on an external team's codebase. This can quickly turn into a repetitive meeting hell.
Advice to Management

None, I don't think my review will change anything :)

Advice for those thinking of joining:

  • Be prepared to toil.
  • Ask a lot of questions. Anything that you don't understand, ask. Especially if you are introverted. If you don't feel like you are annoying the other person, you are not asking questions enough.
  • Be proactive and take genuine interest in understanding not just your task but others' tasks too; ultimately, the project should benefit from your inputs.
  • Keep your career in mind. If you want to get promoted, make sure to mention it to your manager and define a timeline and a roadmap. Then, maintain a promo doc for your tasks and keep revisiting it with your manager in every 1:1 meeting.
  • Work can get hectic; take care of your health (especially mental).
