Pros

At Amazon, you need to be proactive and good at communication, which is a weak point of most engineers in general. There are many meetings and chances of interacting with many people, in addition to writing a program.

Cons

Like many big and old companies, there are so many legacy code that is big and hard to improve. Therefore, development velocity is very low unless you are working on an isolated task. In this environment where development efficiency is low, we need to deliver products quickly, which has led to frequent overtime work.

Advice to Management

Keep hiring more people to cope with low development velocity.
