Challenging in a 'soft skill' way: you learn how to survive and be an 'investigator' in an ambiguous setting. If you are lucky, you might actually bump into a manager who knows the value of individual contributions and can 'get the most out of you' by making you as happy as he/she could.
Darwinian setting: Although the company sells you the "we're together" lie, it's obvious from the first year's salary review that you are a single gear in Amazon's gearbox, and they intend to keep it that way.
Corporate lies: Although they like to "hint" that they don't do that, Amazon is full of deceit and secrecy, and even misdirection from time to time.
Chaos: Amazon has the motto of "don't manage the chaos," and this is very taxing on you as an individual contributor.
Stop this idiotic 'don't manage the chaos.' You are wasting so much during these processes. If you could use that 'potential' correctly, you'd be 5x bigger than you are right now.
It was easy and to the point. The interviewer was sweet and allowed me enough time to think about how to approach solving the problems. The coding question asked was for an inventory and managing it. It was an easy solve with the right data structure
The interview process was quick, consisting of three panels: technical, behavioral, and system design aspects. The interviewers were friendly, approachable, and helpful. Overall, it was a very positive and smooth experience.
First was an exam of problem-solving with 2 questions. Then 4 interviews over 2 days, or all in 1 day after the exam passed, but I didn't join them; I just did the exam.
