Pros

Good meeting process of using written documents and reading.

Opportunities to switch to other teams.

Cons

On-call leads to a poor work-life balance since you can get paged any time.

People leave and join Amazon at a high rate, making the team unstable.

The promotion process is unnecessarily difficult and time-consuming.

The interview process is very rigid.

The incentives are all towards individuals and result in a lack of team incentives and collaboration.

Shares awarded are taxed highly (~60%) as Amazon requires the employee to pay the employer's tax as well, leading to much lower total compensation than expected.

Advice to Management

Fix the broken promotion process to prevent promotion-driven development. Build compensation or flexibility for on-call rotas.
