Work culture is over-hyped, but it's not that bad. They were very understanding and allowed you to work from home a lot.
You get to do pager duty. Initially, they expect you to be on-call during vacations, etc. Amazon doesn't have vacations for Thanksgiving or New Year's.
Reduce frugality so engineers get more work-life balance and add some more benefits.
