Amazon's culture won't be for everyone. If you'd rather do the same thing every day and not change, then Amazon is not the place for you. If you are looking to be innovative and use your creative genius, then check them out. Also, check out their leadership principles.
The pay is great (complimented with stock) and benefits are good as well. Lots of freedom to experiment.
The company is moving so fast it's hard to keep up. This is especially true in the AWS org.
Also, in every company, there are bad apples. Don't expect everyone at Amazon to be a unicorn.
Keep hiring smart people and give them the freedom to innovate.
