I was a little worried about joining Amazon because I've read about the horror stories and reputation online. I have not had any issues with this type of culture in my personal experience so far. For me, it has been a great place to learn and grow my career, speaking from the perspective of an early-career engineer.
Some pros:
- There are many new developments and projects in my organization; it does not feel stagnant.
- I get to use the latest technologies and best practices.
- I get a lot of support for career development when I ask for it.
- Intelligent and motivated coworkers, inclusive environment.
Neither pro nor con:
- A big emphasis on writing.
You have to be proactive and sometimes persistent in getting the help you need from more senior engineers.

System Development Engineer
