The interview was for the position of Co-op Engineer for the Spring semester. I had submitted my resume to University Relations long ago. Seeing a match between my academic projects and the job requirements, the Hiring Manager called me for an initial phone interview.
It seemed like a perfect match between my projects and the work I would do at AMD. The Hiring Manager was pretty much convinced and informed me that another senior engineer would conduct my next interview.
Due to time constraints, this occurred two days later. The senior engineer asked mostly technical questions covering C++, Verilog, Computer Architecture, and Algorithms. They also asked me to explain my academic projects in detail.
The interview lasted an hour. I believe they were impressed, as I received the offer by the next day.
