Cons: - Mid-level leadership often lacks effective management skills, defaulting to excessive micromanagement rather than trust and delegation. - Senior individual contributors and even some managers are frequently treated with condescension, undermining their experience and autonomy. - Strategic direction is inconsistent or absent; priorities shift frequently based on ad hoc questions or whims from upper leadership. - There is a notable resistance to process — initiatives often feel reactive and chaotic rather than planned or structured. - Performance expectations are uneven: a small number of high performers are overloaded and held to extremely high standards, while low performers face little accountability. - Long workdays (12–16 hours) are common for top performers, often spent chasing poorly defined or shifting objectives with little long-term value.

Cons: The nail in the coffin. AMD is the worst place I have ever worked. It’s not a good company. It’s never been a good company. Don’t be fooled by the inclusive, diverse hype propaganda. It’s a very toxic place to work. Sure, you can make some money and gain some experience. Just don’t stay too long, or you’ll lose yourself. If you have choices, choose the other. If you don’t, here are three things you must do to succeed at AMD: * Trust nobody. * Lie about everything. * If you see something bad headed your way, duck and let it hit the person behind you. If you can do these three things, you will succeed at AMD. Good luck!

Pros: The CEO has a good vision.

Cons: Crazy head, heavy and lots of politics. Working-level engineers are very, very stressful, with low salaries and slow promotions. AMD has so many VPs that it is ridiculous. You see a VP reporting to a VP, reporting to another VP, reporting to another VP in every BU. Those VPs got hired because they are buddies of other VPs. These VPs/Sr. Directors have no value but must consume a good portion of the company's annual pay budget, so getting an engineer req becomes very difficult. As a result, every engineer in AMD is under tremendous stress because each is doing work equivalent to 1.5 to 2 engineers in other companies. Be aware of outsourcing, because the company seems to be more interested in growing India/China jobs than in the US. It is easily the worst company I have ever worked for, and I am very happy that I am not there anymore.
