Pros: The internship not only has you learning a wide range of tools the team uses but gives you a very real picture of what being a part of the team is like.
Cons: This can be very intense for novice programmers and people who aren't used to proprietary tools. Working on projects a team is directly relying on while new can be stressful for the team and the intern.
