Really relaxed work environment compared to other jobs I've held. High pay.
The job makes you lazy because of the norms of the work environment.
If you're young and full of energy, ready to learn, and bust your butt, this place really kills that drive.
You will see lots of old-timers who want to do the minimum, and it seems out of place when you go and do something out of your way to get an airplane up and running again.
Time for layoffs? They will keep the lazy employee who is less qualified than you because they have seniority over you. That's just the way unions work. Just keep that in mind.
Look out for your mechanics, and they will look out for you as well.
