Flight benefits (though difficult to use during peak times).
Extreme levels of micromanagement and unprofessional and unfair treatment from managers.
Disgustingly toxic manager-subordinate relationships. The good managers are sick and tired of it and are actively looking for new positions. Soon, there will only be abusive micromanagers left.
Incompetent managers that don’t actually know what the product they manage does and force subordinates to make up for it.
Extremely cliquey management structure. You will get away with a variety of HR violations (racism, sexism) as long as you are friends with management.
Due to the cliquey nature, there is a prevalent culture of fear. Afraid to ever speak against management. Afraid to stand up for ourselves as they are met with aggressive 1-1s.
If you are going to be in the Customer Technology department, be prepared to be treated like a child. There is 0 flexibility for ANY rules, including for family emergencies. 1-1s to the managing director (3 levels above you) to address concerns will lead to nothing because management is always protecting their own.
Listen. Empathize.
A fine experience with a long-term bond. Processing slow applicants with a long-term bond, the interview process is long and tiring, with efforts and time not being utilized.
I had two rounds of interviews with American Airlines: * One technical round with the manager (focused on tech stack and past experience). * One technical round with the lead engineer and architect (focused on system design and algorithms).
This is a great company to work for. As for my work, I am pretty much developing many new abilities and skills, such as my analytical thinking and others.
