Extremely broken recruiting process.

It started with an external recruiter reaching out to me about a role.

I was then introduced to a project manager. She told me that she would be handling the recruiting process from here on out, even though she clearly was not a recruiter. She also said that she did not know about the external recruiter I had been in contact with initially.

I didn't think much of this and continued with the process, which consisted of a timed coding challenge with an onsite after.

I received a lowball offer, which was apparently the max they could go up to due to internal salary band restrictions. If I had known this, I would not have invested time in this process.

Additionally, the recruiter that extended this offer was not the same person I had been in contact with. I had not talked to him before. He also made it a point to say that this offer was pretty good compared to the salary in Arizona. Yes, of course it is, but I guess he doesn't know about the idea of Cost of Living? Of course NYC numbers are going to be higher than Arizona.

A few days passed, and I received emails from them indicating that I had accepted the offer and that I needed to begin the background check process. I DID NOT accept the offer in any way whatsoever, so I am not sure why the onboarding process was initiated.

Another recruiter I had not spoken to before contacted me asking me why I did not begin the onboarding process. I clarified to him that I had NEVER accepted the offer.

Totally broken process with unprofessional recruiters. This is a shame because the tech team that I interviewed with actually seemed like great people to work with.
