A recruiter reached out about a position.
The position looked amazing for my skill set, and the work seemed aligned with my background as a Veteran Senior Firmware Engineer with an Electrical Engineering degree.
Simple embedded systems questions. A new SW engineer, acting as a manager for a new FW group, spent 15 minutes debating why FW and SW are different. The manager said they are the same, and I disagree, as any real FW guy knows. This was a waste of time and quickly showed the manager's persona.
He then asked if a remote control (IR) is FW or SW if it had a display, since I had generalized that FW works with and interfaces with HW, and SW is more for the user interface. Really?
