Each interview was roughly 30 minutes long, taking up a full day.

Participants included senior leadership, such as the director of manufacturing, as well as peers.

Lunch was available on campus, which was nice.

The interviews were conducted in the old LA Times building.

Questions

As an industrial engineer, I would first attack the processes that are causing the most waste.

This typically involves looking for:

  • Excessive inventory
  • Unnecessary movement of materials or people
  • Defects or rework
  • Overproduction
