Mechanical Engineer Interview Experience - Costa Mesa, California

Process

The interview process includes several stages:

  • A phone screen with an internal recruiter.
  • A Zoom meeting with a member of the team, usually a lead engineer who will serve as your manager should you be hired.
  • You'll then be flown to HQ for a presentation of some of your engineering accomplishments and several back-to-back interviews with other leading members of the team (in my case, it was a presentation followed by four interviews).

Finally, the decision is made.

Overall, the interview process is fine and treats candidates with some level of respect. The back-to-back interviews, however, can be rough. Mine was scheduled from 11 AM to 3 PM, so plan to not have lunch at a conventional time.

Questions

If you were to design an inverted pendulum system (rigid arm), would you prefer a longer moment arm or a shorter moment arm for ease of control?
