Engineering Manager Interview Experience - Ireland

Process

  1. Initial chat with HR
  2. System Design
  3. People and Project Management
  4. Product Thinking
  5. Practical Coding
  6. Behavioural Round I (Hiring Manager Screen)
  7. Behavioural Round II (Hiring Manager Screen - 2)
  8. Reference Checks

After waiting for 3 weeks to receive feedback, I was glad to get a positive response and then we proceeded with the reference checks. However, shortly after completing reference checks, I was informed that they already had a candidate whose salary discussion was already scheduled. One thing I did not understand is why they even started reference checks when they had a candidate in the pipeline already.

Entire process took almost more than 2 months, out of which the first month was in the interview process, which was quite faster, but the next month was only wasted in getting final feedback and doing reference checks.

I'd suggest maintaining more transparent communication to avoid misunderstandings and ensure that the company's reputation isn't affected by delays or unclear decisions.
