Process

  • HR interview (phone)
  • Technical interview (phone)
  • Design project and presentation (generated over the course of the week, submitted for review)
  • Flew down to HQ for in-person interviews over the course of 2 days.
  • Interviews were mostly technical whiteboard Q&A sessions. Not very personal or personable.
  • Design presentation to a large group.

Overall, it was intensive and a good gauge of mechanical aptitude. Only 2 out of about 16 interviews assessed culture/personnel fit. The work would be intellectually satisfying, but it was obvious that there was no work/life balance, and most of the interviewers seemed stressed and busy. Several were on their phones while I was at the whiteboard working on solutions.
