Process

It was a phone interview. The hiring manager didn't show up. After 15 minutes, I emailed the recruiter, and she replied the next day. Finally, another time was set up. The recruiter told me to text her if the hiring manager was more than 5 minutes late this time.

The hiring manager was late, and I texted the recruiter. Apparently, the hiring manager was in a meeting and was late. The interview finally started 15 minutes after the scheduled time.

I did not like the interviewer's tone from the beginning. It was a mistake to attend this interview; I did it only because it was Apple. The hiring manager had a set tone. He had an attitude aimed at failing me somehow. After asking me more and more about something that I didn't claim to know, he finally found something. The interview ended as he wanted it to.

My understanding is that the hiring manager has a lot of issues. His ego was a problem (probably an inferiority complex from interviewing a PhD as a non-PhD himself). The origin of his nationality is probably another problem. People from his country usually don't hire people from my country (I have heard this from many people of my country).

Being at Apple, I hoped he would be free from those issues. But within the first few minutes, I realized it was a mistake. I just wanted it to end.

Questions

The role was for a battery quality manager. The hiring manager keeps asking why I want to go for the quality engineer role, regardless of my answer.
