Senior Commerce Engineer ITunes Interview Experience - Cupertino, California

December 1, 2014
Neutral ExperienceNo Offer

Process

Two weeks:

  • The first week involved phone calls with a couple of recruiters.
  • The second week, I arranged a 45-minute phone screen with an engineer.

The technical interview seemed to go well, but an Apple recruiter later emailed to say I was not a match.

Questions

Question on reading files and randomly printing/choosing a line (equal probability) and printing the line from a file where we have constraints on memory and performance. After an engineer got my solution for the file-based problem, he asked me to do the same with SocketInputStream with constraints that there's no double pass from the beginning of the stream and no storage of metadata in some user-assigned data structure.

How do you model a 1-to-many and a many-to-many relationship in a DB?
