From the first time the recruiter contacted me until they finally declined to make an offer, it took about 30 days.
I had a few phone interviews with the hiring manager, then they flew me down to Cupertino that week to meet with everyone on the team.
The interview breakdown was as follows:
I got the feeling from the 1:1 interviews with everyone on the team that no one knew the job roles of the other people on the team. This seemed troubling.
They really pushed how awesome their campus was, despite the fact that their team works in a pretty awful building nowhere near their main campus.
While I have no idea what went on behind closed doors, my feeling was that Apple doesn't make offers unless you WANT to work there very badly and are willing to take less than a decent salary for the area for the "privilege" of working there.
There was a lot of back and forth in the weeks that followed, and follow-up interviews. They tried to talk me down to take less money, which I declined, so they did not make an offer.
