Pros: Get to work on industry-leading technology. Few jobs will involve technology which reaches as many people as the hardware and software Apple produces. Reasonable pay, but good benefits (on-site doctor, good health plan, etc.). Challenging work environment with a high potential for personal development.

Cons: Absolutely no work/life balance; arguably one of the worst among large Bay Area companies. You should be okay not seeing your family and friends very often, and it helps to have a personality that thrives on constant stress and work. Schizophrenic upper and middle management, changing priorities constantly and treating engineers like disposable resources. Release goals are often unachievable, and code is often hurriedly thrown together. Software quality suffers as a result. Poor facilities: employees often have no place to park and are all but required to eat at the on-campus cafeteria (which is not free) to avoid losing parking spots. It wasn't uncommon to have to spend 30 minutes hunting for parking in residential Cupertino after getting back from a doctor's appointment. Campus is generally overcrowded with work environments that aren't conducive to productivity.

Pros: Really smart and engaged engineers and scientists, and people who work hard to do good things. Each org/team has a unique set of challenges and is empowered to meet those challenges as they see fit. This results in a lot of duplication of effort and infrastructure, but secrets prevent sharing of tools and knowledge. Team culture is hard to get a sense of, and it can vary significantly under the Apple umbrella.

Cons: It is the worst place I have ever worked as an engineer and thankfully my last. Management is full of bullies who have no idea about the technologies we work with. I've been called stupid to my face multiple times and probably far more when I wasn't there (as reported back). I've seen managers push on things in meetings and conference calls to the point where the messenger bringing the message is at the point of tears. I've seen support completely withdrawn from people who needed medical care. I've seen a complete lack of concern among management about teams, how teams work (or don't), and how to do things better - management doesn't seem to care. Management is complacent and lazy, sitting on tons of RSUs since "they made it" but are clueless about what others are trying to accomplish. I've never seen a management team work against their employees the way I've seen them work against people here. I've seen a director-level manager belittle people on topics they know nothing about and are completely wrong, but go unchallenged because your career would be toast.

Pros: Great people and products to work on.

Cons: Lack of vision since Jobs.
