Software Engineer Interview Experience

Process

I was completely disappointed with the interview process. I have 4 years of work experience in backend software systems and Big Data.

I interviewed with 4 different teams. Although I performed well in all four phone interviews, I was not called for on-site interviews.

  1. Video Processing Team: One round with the recruiter and one round with the Hiring Manager. The Hiring Manager asked very simple questions, all of which I answered correctly. He seemed happy with my responses. Three days later, I received a rejection.
  2. Apple macOS: This was the worst interview process of my life. It included one recruiter round and one hiring manager round, where I answered all questions well. Following that, there was a coding round with a LeetCode hard question. I performed well and my answer was correct. A subsequent coding round involved two coding questions, which I also handled very well. After three days, I was rejected. Seriously!? They shouldn't have proceeded with three phone interviews if they deemed my experience insufficient. What a waste of time.
  3. App Store: I had one Hiring Manager round, where I performed well. I also completed a phone interview that lasted around 1 hour and 15 minutes, even though it was scheduled for one hour. I did well in this interview as well. After two days, I received a rejection.
  4. App Maps Team: I had one coding round, where I performed well. I was rejected three days later.

Seriously, I wasted so much energy and time going through this stupid interview process. I had offers from startups.

My sincere advice is: if you are prepared to waste time on this, then you can go ahead and apply. Otherwise, please don't. There are many other companies out there.

I can't share the exact questions, but it's all in Leetcode.
