I was contacted by a headhunter for an SBE position at Shanghai/Shenzhen.
After one day, Apple HR called to discuss my resume, current job, and communication skills, focusing on standard questions.
Two days later, HR arranged an interview with the hiring manager. The Apple HM focused heavily and in detail on techniques used in supplier control and validation, which was relatively difficult.
Then, after a week, I was flown to Shanghai for a face-to-face interview. This involved one hiring manager, four team members, and two senior managers. This was a very tough interview, as the team members possessed deep expertise in areas such as tooling, sheet metal, GD&T, and thermal management.
The two senior managers primarily asked about my motivation and reviewed my resume. I did not perform as well in the technical questions, and there was no further contact.
Every detail in mechanical/manufacturing areas related to previous jobs may be asked.
