Leadership takes advantage of the competitiveness of college students looking to convert to full time. While interning there, I was tasked with many laborious tasks with no learning value, and often worked over 12-hour days (being eligible for double time).
Interns often bragged about how long they stayed at the office. There was a lot of competitiveness and negative sentiment when some interns were given better projects from managers than others, based on favoritism from their alma mater.
Don’t let managers hire and mentor only students from their alma mater. This creates a terrible environment with favoritism and weird competition, not based on skill and learning.
