If you come from outside, it's better to bargain and get a better position. Your salary is based on your grade. Decent hikes vary from 8 to 11 percent on average; some may get 16 percent or even double sometimes.

If you end up working on China projects, you need to work like a headless chicken, about 16 hours a day. This implies no personal life and you will end up with mental pressure.
If you want to join Applied, do not join the Chennai branch. There is a lot of micromanagement and politics. The Chennai branch is so biased to specific product teams.
Their strategy does not enable you to learn and stay. If you are an average performer, then you have a better environment there. If you are a good resource, then it is better to look for jobs elsewhere.
