Pros

Opportunity to travel.

Fast pace, almost too fast.

Opportunity to work on next-generation wafer fab equipment.

Exposure to mechanisms, vacuum systems, and material science.

Cons

The management structure is top-heavy.

Management's idea of adding resources to a project is to have more managers ask when the project is finished.

Engineering is expendable.

Advice to Management

Trim the fat. There are lots of examples of successful Silicon Valley companies that don't have more than 4 levels from the bottom to the top. I count 9 levels at Applied.
