Applications Engineer Interview Experience - Bellevue, Washington

Process

I had two phone interviews, both scheduled by the recruiter at the staffing agency I had established contact through. The second interview took a very long time to schedule, mostly because the interviewer kept rescheduling. It actually reached the point where I had considered declining the interview, as I was tired of the constant reschedules. Clearly, hiring was not a priority.

There also seemed to be a disconnect between the job described by the staffing agency and the actual interviews. Make sure to get more details during interviews; do not take a recruiter's description as entirely accurate.

The interviews were straightforward. The first interview concluded with the interviewer directly stating he would be in touch to schedule a second interview. The second interviewer thanked me for my interest in Apptio with no further hint of follow-up. Several days later, I was told they weren't interested, which I had already anticipated based on the interviewer's lack of enthusiasm and the delayed response.
