Software Engineer Interview Experience - Bellevue, Washington

Process

The interview process began with a phone screen by a recruiter, followed by a technical problem one week later, conducted over the phone using CoderPad.

I was then invited to an onsite loop consisting of four technical interviews and one lunch, scheduled for the following week.

All of my interviewers were pleasant, with the exception of one who made the experience negative. This interviewer spent fifteen minutes asking general knowledge questions, such as "What is the difference between a linked list and an array?" He then posed a technical question, but halfway through decided he had not worded it correctly, so he changed it to a completely different question.

He then determined that I was not working fast enough to solve this new problem within the remaining time. Consequently, he began forcing his own suggestions, instructing me to ignore certain aspects and stating they would be provided as a "black box function." This approach was extremely unprofessional. Ten minutes before the end of our allotted time, he decided to cut me off completely, as I had not been able to solve the challenge that resulted from his imposed workflow and my own approach.

I hope that in the future, this company will better train its interviewers to avoid wasting their own time and that of the candidates.
