In the interviews I had, it was clear it was important that the person-company "fit" worked best for both parties.
The recruiter who contacted me was candid and truthful. I had applied to different positions within the company, and he gave a high-level description of each role. I understood why I was profiled for one role and not the others.
[He was] down-to-earth and a very clear communicator. He gave an accurate description of the environment the candidate would be joining, the type of person, etc. Not undersold, not oversold, factual, and neutral.
The same applied to the technical interviews. Something they did very well was to create an environment where the candidate was at ease. That way, the information they gained in the process was a correct reflection of what I knew and didn't know, and what I could do and couldn't do. And in fairness, they did the same to me as a candidate; they were upfront, as much as they could be, and clear about the job, environment, approach, complexities, and advantages.
