Great software team. Maybe the culture of taking attendance is local to Bangalore, and US management can fix it.
Perhaps the only company in Bangalore that takes attendance and records your time of arrival.
Even some service companies, which are notorious for bad work culture, don't make you sign a register. You are fooling no one by claiming that labor laws in India mandate it.
There are a lot of India-specific policies to discourage people from working from home.
People are tolerating it since the stock benefit is great for those who joined until around 2012.
Management in the US needs to be aware of local specific bad culture being built.
Fix the culture or fix the accountability. If you don't act, be prepared to lose the initial team that you built.
