Process

There were several parts:

  1. I applied online and sent in my resume for the AT&T Live Software Development Program position. They must have liked my resume because they sent me an email about the next step.

  2. The second part was an online coding quiz. There were 5 questions. Two were multiple choice, where they give you a code snippet and you have to determine the output. The other three were simple coding questions, such as "Determine if a string is a palindrome" or "Take in an array of integers and replace each value with the sum of the other values." There was a third question that I don't remember, but they were all pretty simple. You can code in any language. Assuming you pass this, you move on to the next step.

  3. This step, for me, was a Skype interview with an HR person. I was asked 4 behavioral questions: "Tell me about a time when you..." Again, the questions weren't hard. They also ask you why you want to work for AT&T and which location you want to work at.

  4. The fourth step is more technical. The interview was again online. I shared my screen with the interviewers, and they asked me some technical questions (what is an interface, what is an API, and several others). After that, they asked me to do some coding while they watched my screen. They asked me to think out loud and describe my thought process. Again, the coding questions weren't hard, and again, you could code in whatever language you prefer.

  5. After that, I was invited to attend AT&T Live in Dallas. This was very fun. It is a three-day conference. The first and second days, they try to convince you why you should work at AT&T. It is a party and upbeat atmosphere. Everyone is super friendly, and they do a great job at getting you excited to work there. The third day is the interview where, if they like you, they will offer you a job. Most people who get invited to attend this conference get an offer, even though I met a few people there who did not get an offer. I have not yet accepted my offer, but I am leaning towards it. The pay is slightly above average for my degree, and it seems like it is a good place to start my career.
