Pros
  • Pay is okay.
  • Coworkers are good.
Cons
  • Long hours.
  • Pay is not as competitive compared to other companies.
  • Good people who have provided many innovative solutions to the company are being let go.
  • Key individuals in teams are being let go, thus more work is piled on existing team members.
  • No direction in middle management followed by redundant meetings.
  • Innovative in-house solutions are discarded in favor of pricey licensed software.
  • Incompetent managers (who play favorites) are promoted in place of managers who cared about their subordinates.
  • Project funding system is disastrous (sustaining vs enhancing).
  • Certain management individuals favor their own kind.
  • Too much bureaucracy; simple processes that should take minutes take days (approvals to use libraries, get access to systems, etc.).
Advice to Management
  • Get rid of upper and middle management.
  • Put people who will bring back the good, honest, hard-working people who were let go.
  • Acquisitions of companies aren't going to drive AT&T to success.
  • Pay off debt.
  • Give employees the ability to tackle solutions in innovative ways; don't just give a mouthpiece to those buzzwords.
  • Stop using vendor/contracting companies and invest in existing employees instead of surplusing them.
