I applied for the Frontend Software Engineer position online. The recruiter emailed me the next day and scheduled an initial call.
During the call with the recruiter, I answered general questions about my experience, skills, career goals, and salary expectations. The recruiter also explained what to expect in the following interviews.
Next was a Javascript interview, involving pair programming with a developer at Atlassian. I had to write a Javascript function and answer many follow-up questions about performance, error handling, and similar topics.
The following round was a browser coding interview. I needed to create a UI interface using a framework of my choice. The Javascript interview and the browser coding interview took place on the same day.
The System Design interview was the next round. I had to draw on a whiteboard and discuss the design of an Atlassian product UI, covering details about components, data management, necessary APIs, and more.
The values interview was next. This required preparing examples from my experience to demonstrate alignment with their company values.
Finally, I had a management interview with my future manager. This round included some overlapping questions from previous interviews, as well as inquiries about the latest tech trends, my contributions to past projects, teamwork, and other topics. In my opinion, this was the most challenging round due to its open-ended nature and broad scope.
Overall, it was an excellent interview experience. They clearly communicated what to expect in advance, encouraging thorough preparation. The interviewers were friendly and great to work with, and they provided honest feedback.
It was a relatively long process, with three rounds, each conducted a week apart, totaling one month.
If your manager and product manager give you two different tasks that are both high priority, how do you prioritize your time?
