Process
The interview process was pretty smooth throughout. I felt like my recruiter was really good at prepping me for each round.
I passed all of the interview rounds and was graded as a P4 hire, but the role got filled, so I was put into a Team Match process.
My interviews were more front-end leaning. I got to choose whether to have more back-end or front-end interviews, as they did not have a defined "Full stack" interview.
Questions
They place a greater emphasis on system design.
For front-end engineers, I'd suggest prepping by designing both components (React, in my case) and apps.
Prep well for the behavioral interviews, as they are just as important as the technical rounds.

Horrible experience, don't join!

Pros: It’s a remote role; you can work from home.
Cons: Everything went downhill in 2023.
They started with a generous layoff, citing "macro economic" conditions. For some reason, instead of another round of layoffs or asking folks to volunteer to leave, they changed a whole bunch of stuff.
All these changes happened at the end of the year, so there was no opportunity to adjust. Everyone was blindsided.
They changed how performance is evaluated at year-end, and a bunch of people ended up on PIP. They said they would no longer cover 100% of the premium for health insurance because other companies weren't doing it.
They got rid of M1s, forcing them to either transition to IC or be promoted to M2. Some M1s left.
Multiple engineers have complained about the CTO, Rajeev. He posts about focusing on developer productivity and developer joy, but he barely has a relationship with the engineering team. Tons of people believe he was the reason for most of the changes that degraded the work environment.
In an effort to PIP people ASAP, they went from yearly performance reviews to every six months.

Pros: From my first interaction with a recruiter, through the interview process, onboarding, and working here for several months, my experience at Atlassian has been overwhelmingly positive. There is a solid work-life balance, interesting projects, a high degree of flexibility and agency, nice people, fun perks, and a great atmosphere. I am very happy here!
Cons: No complaints from me so far!

Pros: Great benefits and work-life balance. A diverse and smart group of people to work with.
Cons: The top-down hierarchy is sometimes a blocker to get project approvals.
