Senior Java Developer Interview Experience - Sydney, Australia

Process

The interview process begins with a 20-minute introductory call with a recruiter, followed by a coding round. Although it was presented as a code pairing round, asking clarifying questions was perceived as needing guidance and was considered a negative point. Therefore, I would describe it as a coding round rather than code pairing.

Their interview setup used a sluggish BlueJeans platform, which malfunctioned on the interview day. This forced a switch to Google Hangouts, resulting in a loss of over 20 minutes of interview time.

Candidates receive a link to a zipped Java project and a PDF containing three questions. The question was a relatively simple N-level hierarchy problem. While it would take at least 10 minutes to work out the solution, they expected it to be completed in less than 5 minutes. I was working out the solution on paper first before typing, but in the feedback, it was noted that after 5 minutes, nothing had been implemented.

Questions

User and group related project for coding round. They sent you a link to a zip file previously, but on the interview day, they will give you the password.
