Senior Software Engineer Interview Experience - Bengaluru, India

August 1, 2020

Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

Applied online and got the first two interviews scheduled.

The questions were super easy; an API rate limiter was a standard question, as always.

The recruiter ghosted me. I kept asking for feedback, but they didn't respond. After 20 days post-interview, I received an automatic rejection email.

Upon asking what went wrong, the recruiter told me they are not allowed to share feedback

Not as promised

Senior Software Engineer • Current Employee

Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

December 18, 2020

Pros: 1. Work from anywhere - WFH from any city/country recognized by the company. 2. Innovation weeks + ShipIt to try out new ideas. 3. More freedom compared to other Indian companies.

Cons: 1. Work-life balance exists only in some teams. Given that hikes are ordinary, expect work-life balance to be in all teams. 2. There is a huge gulf in terms of culture and work between Sydney and Bangalore. 3. Work at the Bangalore center is mostly mundane and ordinary. One example is 10+ year engineers doing only CRUD operations. 4. The Bangalore center has grown too big, too fast. The end result is mundane work and culture deterioration.
