The decent Atlassian is dead and gone. Now it's Meta without the high compensation
Coworkers are generally good people and talented. Decent budget for remote workers to socialize. Remote working.
Here are some changes that have happened in the last 9 months since the new CTO was hired:
- Rampant nepotism hires at director level and above. All older Atlassian management have been forced out and replaced by the CTO's colleagues from Meta and Microsoft.
- Introduced forced stack ranking with a percentage to PIP and fire.
- Cut US health insurance benefits.
- Endless reorgs.
- A layoff and quietly hiring again afterwards almost immediately.
- Using the number of PRs and reviews to measure productivity.
Congrats on killing decades of trust and goodwill from employees in a few months. World-class engineering does not mean copying Meta, and you can't copy Meta with mediocre compensation.
