Engineering Manager Interview Experience - India

Process

Tech recruiters from the India office treat candidates like tissue paper. You can expect a call from the recruiter even at 6:30 AM to verify if you attended an interview at 11:30 PM the previous night. However, when you call them back during normal work hours (excluding lunch hours), they do not answer or return your call. Furthermore, they do not keep their word regarding offer letters. Be aware: do not proceed unless you have received something in writing so you can hold them accountable.

I was verbally offered the role and informed that paperwork was pending. The joining date was set for 12 days later. I waited until there were only 5 days left before the discussed joining date. I called the recruiters every day for those 5 days, but they wouldn't pick up. Finally, it was a miracle when a recruiter picked up on the day I was supposed to join. I was informed the role was closed due to a reorganization. One month of time gone to waste!

Questions

System design questions: Pretty standard and easy ones.

Behavioral interview: Looked like the interviewer was looking to the right, picking questions from ChatGPT, then turning to the left to note down everything you were saying, like you were the lecturer and he the student.
